baby bump at 30 weeks

30 weeks and counting. It’s hard to believe that you’ve been inside me for 7 months. You’re due date is getting closer and both your father and I are both excited and nervous. We just went for a Doctor’s visit yesterday. I passed my 3 hour glucose test (Thank God) and my weight gain has so far been middle of the road. The doctor did caution me to not to eat a lot of carbohydrates (Sorry baby, the only thing Im usually able to stomach is rice along with steak.) I did promise him that I would be limiting my carbohydrates.

In a day, I would probably consume beef at least once, then chicken or pork with 1-2 bananas and a mango. I sure hope I am giving you the best possible nutrition.

This post is a little bit short as I am out of breath and I think I would lie down for a bit and feel you kick around my insides.

Preparation for baby Girl Jacobs- baby bump at 21 weeks

Somewhere between 19 and 21 weeks we have started preparing more for your arrival. we went to Babies R’ Us one Saturday and started scanning everything that you may want or need for in the registry.

Us being first timers and savvy at the same time, tried to go to other stores to find a comparable model at a more affordable price point. We were actually successful in purchasing 2 Graco Snugride Car seats and a City Jogger Stroller among other things.

Your father was excited in putting the stroller together as I saw it completely built downstairs in the media room. For the first time since I met him, I think he actually read the instruction manual from cover to cover to ensure your safety and to make sure he builds the stroller properly.

He is has finished painting your bedroom to a cute marshmallow-peach color (It used to be purple but we both decided you might want a more neutral color. You can always petition a change of bedroom color once you’re a little older). We are slowly removing random stuff there and putting things we had purchased for you slowly.

Tomorrow we will be going to the OB so we can see how you’re developing. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow!

Animal Kingdom, Pandora | The World of Avatar

One of the first things my husband and I did after he finished the Bar exam was to go to Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately for both of us, we cannot really ride anything jolting so we got stuck doing low impact rides.

We first rode “It’s Tough to be a bug” (A Bug’s life). My husband was a little hesitant about going there because he was excited to see Avatar and to check out all the animals, but since we haven’t watched this 3D show in quite some time, we definitely had fun with Flick.

An upside-down Flik gazes down from a tree-roots ceiling at It's Tough to be a Bug! show

Afterwards, we are well on our way to Pandora in Animal Kingdom! Yay! I had not had a chance to visit the parks since I became pregnant and I was so excited to finally see the new expansion. As everyone knows, I am and will always be addicted to theme parks.

Valley of Mo’ara Disney’s Animal Kindom Pandora

Walking through the Valley of Mo’ara, one can see how much Disney World’s Animal Kingdom splurge on everything. There are a lot of details from the movie with a lot of information. The Valley of Mo’ara is a sacred place for the people of Na’vi. We went there in the day time but anytime of the day, you will see how beautiful it is!

Satu’li Canteen, Pandora-The world of Avatar, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Our first stop was the food as We (basically just I) are always hungry. We went to Satu’li Canteen for some much needed grub. Between my husband and I, we ordered a Sustainable Fish bowl (Panko Breaded Sustainable Fish topped with Crunchy Vegetable Slaw and Boba Balls served with your choice of Base and Sauce), Cheeseburger Steamed pods- Bao buns (Steamed Cheeseburger Pod stuffed with Ground Beef, Ketchup, Mustard, Pickle, and Cheddar Cheese served with Crunchy Vegetable Slaw and Vegetable Chips) and a cheese quesadilla.

The concept was great, the food basically ordinary for Disney standards and the vegetable crop chips can make you chip your tooth so be careful eating it.

Finally! We can go on an Avatar Ride! Since I’m pregnant, my husband was very kind in accompanying me in the family friendly ride the Na’vi River Journey. It’s inside the Valley and it gives you an underground view of the full beauty of Pandora. The actual ride is in a Reed boat. It’s very tame and a lot of it is glowing vegetation and animals with some animatronics similar to the Frozen ride. It’s an amazing rain forest and makes me wish I watched the movie again.

Alas, we have to move on to the animals and leave Pandora behind. We were able to visit the Gorilla, Hippo, birds and the other animals in Africa but it started to rain so the had to close the animal exhibit for the protection of the animals.

Overall, it was a great day trip with my husband. I wish we can do it more often. Both of us had been too busy with our careers that we had not spent as much quality time with each other.

Pregnant in Florida at 19 Weeks

Pregnant in Florida at 19 weeks and 1 day. My belly is getting bigger. We saw you through an ultrasound when you were 17 weeks. I was so worried about you. I know you’re still inside me as I’m still throwing up continuously and my belly is getting bigger, but I can’t help my anxious, paranoid self. Your father was able to convince our doctor to take a peak at you as we were the last patient. I was so excited to see you as you were moving around and your heart beat was strong. My fears for the moment were replaced with excitement and wonder.

Sometime during this second trimester, we also bought a fetal doppler heartbeat monitor. I am doing my best not to use it often as I know it would probably annoy you.

At 19 weeks, you’re as big as a Mango, my favorite fruit. I can’t wait until you’re out and a little older so we can go pig out on a lot of exotic fruits. I still have bad reflux, nausea and vomiting so I still have to use Pepcid and Diclegis. Believe me, I am doing my best not to take it daily but it’s hard to get through a work day having to be at the bathroom half the time.

This weekend we are planning to go hang out with some of your father’s friends. I am hoping that they will bring me (us) to a theme park. See that, baby? You’ve been to a lot of places here in Florida for the most part.

I can’t wait until next month until we see you again! We love you!

Rides at Busch Gardens while 14 weeks pregnant

I am a Theme Park Aficionado. Every spare moment I have, (once my chores are done), I head up to my second home: which means any theme park within my driving vicinity.

My current pregnancy has not been easy. I have been vomiting on average about 4 times a day; not counting my bouts of Nausea in between. For the first 13 weeks of my pregnancy, I can’t function well. I didn’t have enough energy, I just wanted to crawl into my husband’s arm and fall asleep while he attempts to watch TV. But after 14 weeks, I seem to have some energy to walk around and be part of the living society.

My husband was taking the Bar Exam in Tampa and I wanted to come with him for moral support (and for him not to panic and to bring him his food and anything else he may need during the bar). It’s technically 2 days of hotelcation.

During the first day, I went to Busch Gardens. I didn’t go for too long though. I had to wait until my post breakfast nausea has subsided before I attempted my 30 minute drive to it.

I finally arrived! I had not been there in a few months. Right off the bat, I knew I can’t ride majority of the rides but I am a firm believer in enjoying my time as a preggy person. In my trip there, There were 2 rides I was able to Ride: the Sky Ride and the Serengeti Express.

The Sky Ride is a Cable Car ride that has a 360 view of the whole park. It runs between Egypt and Congo. You can see various animals (I love seeing the Elephants throw mud on their backs) and all of the thrilling roller coaster rides. This is the perfect ride if you’re too lazy to walk to the other side of the park and you see a great view to boot.

The Serengeti Express Train is the other Ride I went to. It shows you Busch Garden’s Serengeti Plain. It has 3 stops at Congo, Nairobi and Stanleyville so it’s also good if you don’t want to walk and just hop on and hop off the train. I was able to see the Giraffe and Zebra, but not much else as it was so hot so most animals are probably doing their best to cool down.

I was able to see the Opening Night Critters show. It features over 100 different rescue animals form birds to miniature horses to dogs. It was definitely a highlight of my day. If only my dogs can do those tricks.

Last but not the least, I was able to check out all the Animals! I wish I had brought my DSLR camera, but alas, my doctor told me not to carry anything more than 10 pounds so I am stuck with my point and shoot camera and 2 frozen water bottles. I was able to visit the Kangaroos, Emu, penguins, Cheetahs, lion,  Turtles, Gorillas, Chimpanzees, zebra, giraffe, lemur, tiger.

Overall, it was a great experience! I enjoyed the park, albeit, it was only for 4 hours before my energy ran out.

My advice to all the pregnant women out there interested in visiting Busch Gardens, Seaworld, Disneyworld and Universal Studios, is to always stay hydrated, frequently rest (if you need to rent a scooter, then rent one) and follow the instructions on what you can and cannot ride. After all, you are carrying the most precious package in your life: your child.

My life as a pregnant woman

I decided to revive my blog as my husband and mother has encouraged me to start writing about my pregnancy so I can show my future offspring what I have been doing since her conception.

  1. I first heard her heart beat at 123 BPM at 6 weeks. I was joyous. we have been waiting for more than a year to get pregnant and here you are. I was complaining of nausea and vomiting and my doctor jokingly told me: “congratulations! you’re pregnant! *wink*” I was speechless.I have a good poker face and I was celebrating quietly in the ultrasound bed. your father, seems speechless but I think he was a bit dazed for the upcoming bar exam.
  2.  Week 7, you were a size of a blueberry. I heard your heartbeat again. I was nauseous and vomiting and I lost 6 pounds so I had another visit with with the OB. you’re growing stronger and getting bigger. it made all the pregnancy symptoms bearable seeing you forming better.
  3.  at week 9, I have been able to keep my weight stable, taking some medications even if I am doing my best not to take it all the time as I don’t want to drug you. your heart beat is stronger at 178. while doing the ultrasound, we saw you kick your feet and wave your tiny hands. It made me so happy to see you moving, knowing that you’re developing well. everything I’m going through is worth it.
  4. I’m currently at week 11 and I won’t be seeing you again until week 13. but until then, I’ll do my best to eat healthier for you.

Decluttering

I have been in denial for quite some time but now is the time to finally face the music and nip things in the bud. With a new member about to join our family, I think it is a good time for me to start decluttering. but where to start? Frankly, I have no idea. This is my general plan though:

Remove stuff from the immediate bedroom and shift it to go to the garage.

  1. remove clothes that doesn’t fit (which is almost everything since I’m pregnant)
  2. separate them into piles
    1. Things I can get more than $20 for and sell online
    2. things that I can sell i a garage sale
    3. things to donate
    4. things to throw away
    5. things to send to my siblings who are all girls.
  3.  do a deep cleaning.

Well, I’ll definitely keep you guys posted on how this project decluttering will work out. wish us luck!

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando Florida

Every year, my husband and I would attend this event at least once every year. We are premier pas sholders so we each get a free Halloween Horror Nights Ticket.

Halloween Horror Nights 26 Runs on select nights from September 16 through October 31st. During the day it’s all the same things but during those select nights in Universal studios, the Witches, monsters and ghosts become alive in one of the best places to scare and entertain yourself.

For this year’s HHN, there are 9 haunted houses:

  1. Texas Chain Saw Massacre
  2. The Exorcist
  3. The Walking Dead
  4. Halloween II
  5. Krampus
  6. American Horror Story
  7. Lunatics Playground 3D: You Won’t Stand a Chance (original)
  8. Tomb of the Ancients (original)
  9. Ghost Town: The Curse of Lightning Gulch (original)

The haunted houses are a combination of old classic horror movies such as your Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Exorcist, Halloween II. There are also some from TV that’s relatively new such as the Walking Dead and the American Horror Story. Of course, there are also the Original houses not based on TV or movie stories.

Each of these houses are filled with great quality props. Their settings are realistic and it looks like you stepped into a movie set. The guests go inside in a continuous line and all of your senses are in overdrive.

In between these houses are five scare zones:

  1. A Chance in Hell – Avenue of the Stars
  2. Dead Man’s Wharf – San Francisco
  3. Vamp 1955 – Hollywood
  4. Banshee’s Lair – Central Park
  5. Survive or Die – New York

Be prepared to be startled and scared as you walk through these areas. All the scare actors are awesome and they play their part well. I love Chance in particular.

There are also regular rides available as you take a break from being scared shitless:

  1. TRANSFORMERS The Ride 3D
  2. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
  3. MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack
  4. Revenge of the Mummy
  5. The Simpsons Ride
  6. Escape from Gringotts

The rides in the regular lines are usually shorter than any of the houses.

There were also 2 shows:

  1. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure
  2. Academy of Villains: House of Fear

Both are extremely great and very entertaining. The professional group that performed in the Academy of Villains are definitely outstanding. I was in awe watching them dance the night away.

My husband and I bought the express pass as we both hate waiting in line. with those passes, we were able to enter and finish all of the houses and watch all the shows in record time.

I suggest to bring water and a hand fan as the wind is seemingly absent while you’re in those long lines. humidity, lack of wind and body odor while being stuck in line is no fun.

Happy Halloween!

Seaworld Orlando Pokemon Go Lure Event

Seaworld Orlando was one of the first companies that embraced Pokemon Go. With roughly 50 pokestops and counting, Seaworld is one of the perfect place to go Pokemon hunting.

I went with my awesome mother in Seaworld for a little bit of mother and Daughter bonding last weekend. When 8am hit, I was rushing through my chores so we may make it to Seaworld at roughly 11am… both so we can watch the shows and also for me to enjoy the Lures. Lo and behold, as I was walking through the doors of Seaworld Orlando at roughly 11:30am, I opened the Pokemon Go App and I saw a Pokestop Mecca:

POkestops Seaworld

Pokestops with a lot of Lures in Seaworld Orlando

Let’s just say my attention was a little bit distracted from my mom as I try to maneuver from one pokestop to the next. I was wheeling around my mother in the wheelchair as I try to hit all the pokestops along the way. Thank God that Seaworld has some decent Wifi that for the most part I was having a lot of success with the Pokestops.

There were lures everywhere I go and since we are surrounded by a lot of water, most of the type of pokemon seen where the water type such as the Psyduck, Poliwag, Krabby, Horsea, Magikarp, Staryu and Goldeen. Of course, you’ll also see your regulars such as the rattatas, the Eevees, Pidgeys, Spearows, and the occasional Caterpies and Weedles.

I wasn’t able to go full out on the Pokemon part as I would like to spend time with my mom too (that, and I was pushing her in the wheel chair so I need two hands for that).

I was able to catch some while I was sitting down and watching the various shows Seaworld Orlando offers. Every 5 minutes, the pokestops turn blue again and I was able to replenish my dwindling pokeballs with an occasional egg and other hp replenishing tools mixed in the fray.

We were there for roughly 8 hours. We watched the shows, rode some rides, petted some sharks and penguins… and I caught a decent amount of Pokemon and I was able to get my pokeballs to a decent level. During the lure event between 11am to 2 pm, I had a time wherein I had a hard time connecting to the server. It was a little bit frustrating because you’re in the moment and you actually have time to play with the app, but the app keeps on kicking you out. I had better luck around 2 pm and I was able to play again but the lures were definitely less.

Overall it was a successful day for me in Seaworld Orlando: I was able to spend quality time with my mother, we were able to see all the animals there, I was able to exercise,  I was able to catch some Pokemon and also hit a lot of Pokestops.

I will definitely be coming back there for more… Hopefully it wouldn’t be too hot the next time I go there.

Pokemon Go Pokestops in Central Florida, Specifically in South Lake County Clermont

Like millions of people here in the United States and in Central Florida, I am one of the people who is moderately addicted to Pokemon Go. For the past week I have altered my activities to include pokestops and pokegyms while I go about my chores and activities. I would like to share some of the areas where I had seen a lot of pokestops and places that used Lures.

I am located in Clermont, Florida in Lake county so naturally, I will start here.

presidents-hall-of-fame-

I hunted around citrus tower by Highway 27 and lo and behold! I was able to spy three pokestops in the House of Presidents area. They also added lures to the pokestops so while you’re in the area, you’ll be able to catch Pokemons. On the next plaza they also have a Pokestop in Uncle Kenny’s BBQ . Across the street, the Crooked Spoon Gastropub has a Pokestop.

There is also a Pokegym in Citrus Tower so while you’re there, you can train in the gym if you’re in the same team.

There is a Pokestop in Tijuana Flats, by Walgreens in highway 50.

Real Life church in Highway 27 has two Pokestops and a Pokegym. I have not gone there personally but whenevery I shop at BJ’s and turn on my Pokemon Go App, The Pokegym and and Pokestops are shining at me like a bright beacon.

In Lake Sumter State College South Lake Campus map in Clermont, there are roughly about 6 pokestops and a Pokegym which makes me go to the library more often so that I may take advantage of the Pokestops for Pokemon go.

By downtown Clermont in Highway 50, I have noticed that the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church has 2 Pokestops and a Pokegym!

BlessedSacrament

It made my day once I got out of church and turned on my Pokemon Go App and I saw that it’s a Pokestop!

I have come to realize that a lot of the churches are Pokestops. I wish I can see all the pokestops but unfortunately, I am the one driving so It’s safe to turn off the phone and concentrate on driving.

Other areas that are pokestops are parks and some of the landmarks

I will update this post as soon as I discover more Pokestops in Clermont. Feel free to message me or post where the other Pokestops are in Lake County.
